|
|
I searched for it, but couldnt find it, so:
Typical T2 situation:
I have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in play, my opponent plays Magus of the Moon.
What happens?
At first I thought that Magus would overwrite Urborg, and I will have mountains.
Then I read Urborgs explanation at http://magiccards.info, saying that all lands will still be swamps, even if Urborg loses its abilities.
That means that all lands will be swamps, and all nonbasic lands will be mountains in addition? And if so - why? |

| I don't think that is right. The lands would all be swamps until the game state is checked and suddenly urborg is no longer a nonbasic land, its just a mountain. Mountains have no effects, activated or static or triggered, so the lands are just mountains. I think |

all lands become Mountains.
the existance of urborgs ability depends on blood moon, therefore, bloodmoon applies before urborg does. urbrog is left without ability -> cant turn lands to swamps |

i remember a friend asked a judge this at regionals like a year ago and the judge said that whichever came into play last, has it's ability. example: if i have magus of the moon in play and my opponent plays urborg, then the lands are sawmps. if i have urborg and my opponent plays magus, then the lands are mountains.
idk if it's right, just another variation on the ruling |

Mountains have the following ability:
T: Add R to your mana pool. |

Both are the same kind of effects taking part in the same layer, therefore timestamp applies.
If urborg comes later, all lands are mountains then becomes swamps as well.
If moon comes later, all lands are swamps besides regular, then changed to mountains.
I think that judge is right... |

kay, so you are wrong
i took the liberty of typing urborg into gatherer just to spite you (kay, i'll admit, a good portion of it was just to shut you up...somehow i mean that in a nice way...i've said it before, but for some reason it just annoys be when someone responds to the correct ruling with an incorrect one)
anyway, here's the link.

kay? good. thanks. |

| I love how a bunch of people that have no idea what the answer is give their opinions on what the ruling is. As if anybody cares. CMA is correct. If you still don't believe me, CMA (who is a judge on here), and the other guy that said CMA is correct, then just look up "Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth" on The Gatherer. The answer is right there in the Official Rulings. |

All answers had a bit of correctness at least.
Youre right Urborg and Blood Moon apply in the same layer
You're not right that this means timestamps apply.
They're in the same layer (check 418.5a) but one of the effects depends on the other (check 418.5c). Beeing dependant, it applies after the BLood Moon with its remaining abilities. It has no more "all lands are..swamp.." so won't do anything anymore.
Aside from that: Ofcourse i'm right <_<
I don't do any msitkaes !! |
