http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/shardsofalara/spoiler

above is a link to a partial visual spoiler, from the link, what cards do you think will impact the ext format the most and in which decks??

My opinion is the 3 mana 5/4 guy will be easily played with all the fetchlands and shocklands, and the RG plainswalker is very interesting Smile

Discuss!

Doran is better, and the colours are better.

Doran is only a little better. But this guy isn't legendary.

with all the mana fixing around this set looks to be very powerful. 5/4's for 3, 3/4's with flying and lifelink for 4. the power/cost ratio seems to be coming down a little.

The RG planeswalker looks to be broken. The haste ability is similar to Ajani's +1/+1 counter ability, but this one adds loyalty.

seems like a good set so far with the spoiled cards.

The 3/4 with Lifelink doesn't have flying

There are so many quality cards in this set. I will discuss the cards' impact on T2 rather than 1.x since I don't see any potent cards for that format in this set.

Battlegrace Angel
The new Exalted Angel. Of course, it's not nearly as powerful due to lack of morph which won't let you sneak it under a counter wall. On the other side, though, it only takes 4 turns to win instead of EA's 5. A must for white control decks, I see a use for it in midrange decks as well.

Caldera Hellion
My personal favorite. Probably because I got a signed Crater Hellion and played it a lot during my casual-magic times. Anyhow, 5 mana is a pretty low cost for semi-wrath and a 4/4 or bigger creature. It might find use in QnT and ramp decks, and potentially in any red deck using Cloudthresher, although it's much worse against faeries.

Ajani Vengeant
On first sight seems very good, but when you look a little longer the only loyalty-gaining ability is sub-par. Lightning Helix on a planeswalker is good, but not necessarily when you don't have the ability to consistently reload.

Deft Duelist
I don't know why, but the card appeals to me a lot. Maybe might find it's way to a UW aggro-control deck? But that slot is occupied by merfolk.

Sarkhan Vol
Now this is a very good planeswalker. Wins the game two turns after it's played. I see uses for it in both aggro and midrange decks.

Tezzeret is insane. Imagine all your seat of the synod and similar lands coming to hit for 5. Or just tutor for ravager/plating AND PUT IT INTO PLAY.
In vintage he's even sicker with cards like time vault (which he can untap every turn for infinite turns after the errate update) and painter grindstone combo. Or even for simple mana acceleration when coupled with mana vault, sol ring, grim monolith etc.

because clearly you would want to play a 5cc dude in a deck that wants to win on turn 5..also its UU in a deck that likes to cast colorless spells for the most part.

I think you can only use the ability once per turn even with X = 0.

Tezzeret is unable to untap Time Vault and I doubt he will even after the errata is updated.
