Daylight Savings, Trial times

by CMA-Flippi on 2009-10-27 14:34 EST
Once again, Bush's Energy Saving Act from 2005 messes up the time, which makes American clocks go wrong for a week.

This makes the tournaments start 1 hour later then Americans would expect..

Therefore, I make this post so users (and judges) can see when the Trials should start..

The offical starting time is GMT (Greenwich Mean Time, London, Lisbon)
Oct 27 Tue 7 PM GMT #magic-league Extended (T1.X) Trial
Oct 28 Wed 8 PM GMT #magic-league Legacy (T1.5) Trial
Oct 29 Thu 7 PM GMT #magic-league Standard (T2) Trial
Oct 30 Fri 6 PM GMT #magic-league Standard (T2) Trial
Oct 31 Sat 3 PM GMT #magic-league Zendikar Block Constructed Trial
Nov 1 Sun 3 PM GMT #magic-league BYOB Trial

In the night to November 1, American clocks will work normally again and there won't be any possible confusion for Americans then.

as much as i think that lil' Georgie was trying to impress Daddy "HEY LOOK i fucked with time hehehe"

it has saved the US money. i dont know how it would affect the rest of the world to make the switch also.

The idea came from Ben Franklin I think, when he tried to save people from burning out candles.

daylight savings is some 1920s crap.

It has saved us money, but i feel in the future it will end up being more troublesome then worthwhile.

in brazil this happens since sometime, but the statistics that i have is that it reduces less than 1% of energy consume so it's not really a tier 1 strategy :P, but we can't say that it doesn't work...

It has depressingly little to do with Daylight Savings Time... All it did was change the start and end dates for us. -_-

The bill amends the Uniform Time Act of 1966 by changing the start and end dates of daylight saving time, beginning in 2007. Clocks were set ahead one hour on the second Sunday of March (March 11, 2007) instead of on the first Sunday of April (April 1, 2007). Clocks were set back one hour on the first Sunday in November (November 4, 2007), rather than on the last Sunday of October (October 28, 2007).

edit: before some jackass says, "WELL, THAT'S ONLY FOR THE US!" ...yeah, that is the whole point. Just fending off the argument before anyone tries to direct it at me.

Please don't underestimate the ability of us Americans to be confused. :)
