Abbreviation for Conflux is CFX

by Azania on 2009-02-03 19:28 EST
As the title said the abbreviation that we will use for Magic Workstation is CFX.

The reason for this is actually quite simple. The official abbreviation is 'CON' but since windows does not allow you to name a directory with this name we got in a small situation never seen before. People are using their own abbreviation. The 2 abbreviations that are known are CNF and CFX. However since the master database from www.slightlymagic.net has the abbreviation set to CFX we shall follow that.

Using another abbreviation can (and most likely will) lead to a lot or problems which includes the following:
- incorrect deck security codes.
- not working deck lists
- not working drafts and sealed (latter already the case)

EDIT:
For the people who have any abbreviation other then CFX please download the master database from slightlymagic.net (easiest solution) OR delete the set and apply the patch again with CFX abbreviation set.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Is there a patch of pictures that are in the abbreviation? Because the ones I've seen are all CON or CNF

by isperia on 2009-02-03 20:43 EST

rename your CON(CNF) directory in root/Pics/ directory to CFX.

by Burton911 on 2009-02-03 20:45 EST

Just go the the MWS File on your Harddisk, then search for the File named Pics and in this File u just have to give the File with the Conflux Pics whatever abbreviation u like to use (i recommend you to use CFX tough ;)

Is not easier kill Bill Gates?

by Azania on 2009-02-03 22:36 EST

well we did not went as far as suggesting that when we discussed it.. but.. we did say this:

<Azania> and then blame bill gates in a news post that due to the official acronym being used in windows
<Flippi|afk> <3

I have no idea why, but CFX doesn't work for me. Everything works fine when using CNF, but when I do the exact same thing with CFX something weird happens. The cards will be there, they show CFX for the set, but when I generate a sealed deck or use analyze/add/remove sets, there is no entry for Conflux.

If I then add it a second time, it will show up in the lists, but then there are two copies of the cards in the master base! Then if I remove the Conflux set it removes both copies and I'm right back where I started :(

As I said, it works just fine when I do the exact same thing using CNF as the set abbreviation. Am I retarded or something? What's going on?

[Edit]: Even using the master base from slightlymagic.net I get the same thing, the cards are in my database but there's no "Conflux" option in the sealed deck generator (or in analyze/add/remove sets).

"Flavor textless" cards have flavor text equal to other cards, including Nicol Bolas. Wtf?

by Delicious on 2009-02-04 09:46 EST

this is absolutely retarded. It should be kept as CNF.

by Craze on 2009-02-04 10:12 EST

This is soo stupid, lets change the directions we've been giving out for the past 2 weeks so a bunch of people get all fucked up, why? not to change it to the right abbreviation(can't do that), but instead to change it to another random abbreviation that makes no god damn sense.

:-\

Base from slightlymagic.net doesn't works great for me, the masterbase.rar is empty.

by ChristPunchr on 2009-02-04 14:22 EST

Iron Magus, you are doing something wrong then. So stop doing it, you fucking putz.

Problem solved ^^

I say let's all use CNF. That's the one that should be the official here.

by Delicious on 2009-02-05 13:54 EST

the slightlymagic base sucks.

It puts all of the editions into one area so you can't search by format anymore. I will use CNF and i don't care

by yokai on 2009-02-05 19:18 EST

I see more people using CNF

by Haro on 2009-02-06 13:24 EST

Cause they are stoopid?

by TugaChampion on 2009-02-06 16:08 EST

No. Because they are smart and the guys at slightlymagic.net are stupid.
