T.T I know its a bold statement, but i really do think 12Post was the best deck for the format and i probably had one of the best maindecks of the deck available (admittedly my sideboard was really really terrible).

It races Zoo pretty handily (and white weenie is even easier to deal with) and theres no good way for a counterspell based control deck to interact with it.

Got a gameloss for starting the game with the wrong deck, cause i misclicked, beat a game 1 turn 3 bloodmoon then died to the absolute nutdraw game 3 with my slow hand =/

In a format THIS filled with Zoo i definitly think its the right combo / control deck to go to. The Zoo decks prepared for Hypergenesis really well it seems, but cant interact with you that well. Atleast the better deckbuilders on here HAD bloodmoons

Just get 4 Krosan Grips in the side in addition to the 4 Repeals to fight through Blood Moons and you should crush this meta.

I'm surprised that my deck, which played no lands, got 4th-6th XD Also, I noticed that the list that archmage shipped me does really well against Hyperegenesis decks. I almost won r4 but I made a few play mistakes.

Also, Pascal, if you had to make a new sb, what would it be?

Jotun Grunt doesn't get enough cards from the Graveyard in Modern (he was never played in old extended?). Serra Avenger could replace KotwO thought. Hawks are awesome with Vial, feels like Bitterblossom :)

Thought about the lack of cards/decks and it is mostly related to people not having played in Mirrodin and onward.

That's the only explanation that I can fathom for the lack of shackles, remand, delay and rune snag.

When I looked through the decks earlier, I didn't see many cards that hadn't seen exposure through legacy. Were the guys who make crazy decks for extended plus mostly absent for this tournament or are rogue builders becoming more rare?

at least my Merfolk got beat by the 1st placer. Congrats! I wonder why I was the only Merfolk player.

Is punishing fire combo really that bad against Merfolk or should I have placed some Kira in the deck... oh well.

You never played the old extended, did you? Modern ist't all that different in terms of the Powerlevel. Shackles needed the right metagame to be played in the old extended most of the Time, remand and rune snag were worse then mana leak and Delay wasn't event good enough for Standard. All of this should be common Knowledge for you if you ever played extended on a competitive level. The Rogue builders comment makes me angry, seems i forgot that WW with Vial and counterspells is a known Archtype in extended.

This should be what extended is. Maybe push it back to Onslaught and go from there. Vial would undoubtedly need to be banned, every bad deck I built with Vial in it beat every bad deck without vial in this format.

I actually played pre-1.5 extended and lost interest in it around the time the format got warped by foundry.

WWu is hardly anything new and my mention of shackles, delay, remand and snag was a general reference to decklists from this tournament and a nod to muc.

If you consider yourself to be a rogue deckbuilder, you have no one to be upset with, but yourself for somehow forgetting to put avengers in your deck...little owe mindcensors and grunts, which are also among the best white dorks that I've ever turned sideways.

I dont know off which tournament you are talking about, but in this particular one, there are 0 (read ZERO) zoo decks.
This are more Jund Decks pressed in Naya Shells (Utility anc Card Advantage and a variabl gamepositon depending on who is your opponent).
Which brings us to Legacy where almost every deck thats not eiter Merfolk or Combo is some Kind of Aggro/Midrange - Control Deck.

I will say one thing, I lost due to a misplay on my part...I tutored up a Sword of Fire and Ice instead of Sword of Light and Shadow...even with two path to exiles, I would have been able to push through some damage and get life back. DenisSinner played a great set of games and the last one was tempo to the max.

One word. Batterskull, the card is nuts, stops aggro decks in their place and allows for some very strong lifeswings later in the game. The key to my wins against other Zoo decks were always Batterskulls. Also shoutout to Tidus- for arguing so vehemently about Blood Moon maindeck...it really made the difference all day. Between catching BW with its pants down (no white mana) or Valakut with no green mana, it made people scoop up their cards in a hurry. I played against BW Deadguy, Zoo, Zoo, Mirror(vs. Tidus-) RG Aggroshift, UW VialTempo.

My view on the format is that a tuned control deck might have a shot, but it will have to embrace a midrange strategy of using Stoneforge Mystic. All Zoo decks should be packing Krosan Grip, cause Batterskull RUINS any chance of them winning. The Sword of Light and Shadow was MVP, wish I had tutored it up in the finals -__-*

I would change the deck by potentially dropping Nactl's for something else like Path to Exile or Lightning Helix, as I really felt like I wanted more removal and didn't care for the 3/3 cat.

Also obv no P-fire cause you are playing Blood Moon maindeck...this was designed to beat the mirror and smash tron/control

Congratulations on your 3-1 showing with a very cool deck. I haven't played it yet, but looking over the list, it looks to me like you pretty much NEED Blazing Shoal to win, and probably two of them at that (Shoal/Progenitus + Memnite = 11 dmg, so Memmy will have to hit 9 more times w/o another Shoal? - or you at least have to redirect some dmg w/Shining Shoal). Even with 8 "free" cyclers (Wraith and Probe), I would think that the odds of getting two B-Shoals (plus one of 12 creatures to carry it) soon enough to win the early game would be pretty low.

Clearly your results refute my thinking here. What am I missing?

Also - What - if any - changes would you make? (FWIW, I like Frozen_Fire's suggestion of Summoning Trap in the SB vs. counters.)

Okay, my deck wins with Blazing and Shining Shoal. You deal a bunch of damage to them, they try to return the favor and you kill them. Chancellor of the Dross and Soul Spike help this and the black shoal kills their dudes so you can get through.

i like modern it means the ravnica dual lands may have value again lol

@Akatsuki: what do you mean with "the analyses via pastebin"? If you mean the "most played cards"-list then there are two possiblities.
If you can programm its not that hard, if not well im afraid i dont have the time atm to write the interface to hook up with the wotc site.

//edit: i just figured out an much easier way to get the data from the wotc page, so if all you want is the most played cards list of the top 8, thats doable.
