by aldaryn on 2008-10-13 19:39 EDT

What's with the resurgence of Bomberman...did it somehow get better? I don't see any new tech in the md's...

by el_cuervito on 2008-10-13 20:32 EDT

Monoyellow LOL...

by Othar on 2008-10-13 20:48 EDT

Bomberman is just a fun deck, and since this is ML, maybe people play more fun decks than tier 1 decks.

bon travail JohnRambo

"in the eye of chaos" gets props for being a card I didn't even know existed - and I know A LOT of cards :{

by YTheAlien on 2008-10-14 01:39 EDT

I remember when you wigged out at ITEOC when I mentioned it in chat PV.

by SteveMan on 2008-10-14 03:32 EDT

I don't get how you can have a 5-color stax deck and NOT run Reaper King

um... easy?

I am so relieved to see a good deck win, knowing M-L's vintage scene. Seriously, kudos.

by Alakai on 2008-10-14 15:32 EDT

Staxx is a Tier2.5 deck actually, i'm playing Bomberman for two years and won a RL tournament with it RL and I would have won if I hadnt dropped because of time.
Bomberman defeats many Tier1 Decks in the current meta and historical metagames, i play it for 1 1/2 years intensly now.

by CalebD on 2008-10-14 17:35 EDT

I never said it was tier one, I said it was good. Many tier decks shouldn't be played simply because they're easy to metagame against.

5 color stax, on the other hand, is always a good deck.

Bomberman's a good deck too, but it has too many iffy matchups for me. Oath, stax, random null rod sui, etc. I just think Painter's Grind is better protected. Not that I'm an expert on Bomberman, mind you. I've only played against the deck.

by gypsy on 2008-10-14 19:31 EDT

painters grind is worse agaisnt stax and agaisnt decks with ancient grudge. i think its better vs oath as oath has a blessing md that you have to play around. null rod is better vs painters grind also. bomberman is rly underrated i find.

by Lenin on 2008-10-15 03:30 EDT

A pity I had no time to play the trial. The staxx list look pretty ok and yes bomberman could t8 because of so many people playing fun decks (dragon oath / ad nausea etc...) or dont have decent sb.

I still think PVs list should have won! :)

by CalebD on 2008-10-15 04:08 EDT

Gypsy: It's also better against oath because of more subtle things, like fewer md creatures/more actual countermagic/ more potential answers to oath, etc.

I disagree on null rod decks. Painter decks have no trouble at all with a null rod, they simply drop painter and find a REB. Bomberman loses EE, its best removal for null rod, and a lot more mana sources/cycling effects (depending on builds) than the painter deck has. Really, it's dependent on beatdown or finding a bounce spell at that point.

Against ancient grudge (actually a very good sb card in the ML meta) then you're right, bomberman is more resilient.

Leonin5 is really a gaylord !!!
