8/30 Sealed Master Top 8 Interviews and Coverage

Written by Gerrardfo on August 30, 2009

TD
Name: Nathan Merrill, aka the TitaniumDragon
Record: 6-0-1 (12-0 in games)
Deck Colors / Notable Cards: Red/White deck. A Captain of the Watch, a Magma Phoenix, and a Seige-Gang Commander were my big, deadly bombs, and I drew at least one of them every game and only in one game was I forced to win a game with something other than them. I also had three other soldiers, which synergized well with the captain, and a great deal of removal. The three excommunicates in particular were very strong.  The ability to use them as time walks at times were very helpful and actually better than normal removal, as I managed to mana screw a couple opponents by putting their creatures back on top, as well as prevent them from drawing answers. Finally, I had two Dragon Whelps which were very dangerous in and of themselves and always drew down removal.
What do you think of Zendikar?: Its about time they made a land block. I haven't read really anything about it, though, seeing as I haven't played Magic for nearly two years, since Lorwyn came out. The traps look like they will be fun in limited, though.
Who from Magic-League do you want to meet?: Weedmonkey. He amuses me.
Favorite Draft Card: Siege-Gang Commander. But more realistically, Lightning Bolt. I started playing back in Revised and the whole cycle of weakening then strengthening burn over a 16 year period of time amuses me more than it should.

Holzi
Name: Thomas Holzinger, but most people call me Holzi
Record: 5-0-2 (no byes, nice pool)
Deck Colors / Notable Cards: My Deck was White/Blue and the best cards were Mind Control, Ajani Goldmane and excomunicate helped a lot too
What do you think of Zendikar?: Zendikar sounds good, but i guess not much is revealed yet. The basic lands are very nice. I dont know if this belongs to Zendikar, but the Planechae crap is nonsense. I dont ever want to play that....
Who from Magic-League do you want to meet?:
Favorite Draft Card: My favourite card in draft is Mind Control because the only thing that is better than dealing with bombs is stealing them

Duodax
Name: Ilja Tchernomazov
Record: 5-0-2

Favorite Draft Card: Serra Angel, she have big boobs and is not mythic rare

"Thanks for this great coverage....

Now that you have a Master Top 8, you're more likely to get a feature in the next master. Also, you're featured in draft viewer along with the rest of the top 8, so that's something. :P
